The Presidential Election

Even four and five year old children can learn and understand the concept of the presidential election process to some degree.  In an effort to put that concept more on their level we attended a play at Main Street Theater.  The title of the play was "Duck for President".  It was very comical and entertaining, possibly more so for the adults who attended.  After the play we stopped at our favorite restaurant, Chick-fil-La.  It was a great day!

One Last Swim.

To end the summer we enjoyed one last day of fun-in-the-sun.  We played in the pool and ate pizza.  What can be better than playing in the water hose and running barefoot in the grass?

Recess is our best Subject

Reading, writing and arithmetic is what we do the most, but there is no doubt that recess is the favorite part of the day.  The see-saw always has a waiting line and general run around playing,  Ninja Turtles and other Super Hero games are at the top of the list.  The cooler weather has made the time outside pleasant and enjoyable.  We often take walks around the block which allows them to run and check out bugs and flowers along the sidewalk.  Where does all the energy come from?  If only they could share it.

Sweet Potato Pie !

Last year we placed a yam in a jar of water and it grew long vines and a lot of roots. Before the summer break we planted the potato in our garden in the backyard.  To our surprise the potato grew and grew and grew.  We had read a book about a grandma who did the same and grew a potato as large as a house!  So re-inacting the book our class proceeded to harvest our sweet potato in the same manner as our book characters.  The kids had fun reading the book and digging the fruits of our labor.

New Year 2012 - 2013

We are off to a great start!  With five eager students Perry Pre K will no doubt have a great year.  Everyone was ready to start learning and being with their classmates.  What a fortunate teacher and grandmother I am to have the privilege of being a part of these precious lives.

Prize Bulletin Boards

With these beautiful faces how can these bulletin boards not be prize winning!

Strawberry Farm

We spent a beautiful day at a local strawberry farm picking to our hearts' desire.  Our buckets and our tummies were full!  It wasn't hard to find plenty of red ripe strawberries as we walked the rows which went on for acres.  We all agreed that coming back next year is a must.

100 Days of School

April 5 was 100 days of school for Perry Pre K.  We did a lot of counting, making beaded necklaces and counting the olives on our pizza. The day was festive with balloons and streamers and just a day of fun.  It has gone by fast !  Our 100 days of school worm is finally complete.

Ye Haw Saddle Up !

The Rodeo is in town!  Houston is known for its annual livestock show and going yearly is a thrill.  The day was spent petting animals, seeing the baby animals, riding rides, eating weird food and enjoying a beautiful day with our family and friends.  Our little cowpokes had a great day, and we are looking forward to going again next year.

The Love Bug

For all four of our students, this year was their official first valentine party activity.  We were graciously invited to North Wood Baptist Church where Mrs.Christy attends and were able to participate in a valentine exchange with the preschoolers of their congregation.  The students were able to decorate a shoe box and create valentines with markers, crayons, stickers, etc.  It was a great day of art and hearts!  The church served lunch and friendly fellowship with our parents and students.  They came home eager to open each card received and anxious to eat the treats attached.  Thank you North Wood for allowing us to be a part of your valentine celebration.

Santa Comes in Small packages

Santa was scheduled to visit our class for Christmas, but he got an early holiday flu bug. So the students decided they would just create the event themselves.  With a precious costume donated by Renae Christy, each child was able to dress up as Santa and pay their tributes to our Savior.  They had a great time and they gave thanks to the risen Christ as they viewed the nativity scene reminding them of His humble birth.  Thank you Mrs.Christy for the Santa Suit!  It is my understanding that grown up Santa recovered from his illness and was able to make all his deliveries on time !
